I notice that every single job listed with Linden Lab - from the most senior down to a simple Liason - states that it requires "degree level qualifications".
Why is that?
A degree does not automatically make someone suitable for a job, especially in an irrelevant subject. Relevant education for programmers, for example, is a given - but why should a degree in agricultural management be considered as 'more suitable' when someone has no other experience, compared to someone who did not attend university, but has a passion for the game, a clear desire to help others, and many years of relevant real world experience in dealing with people?
I think you're putting off a lot of people who would love to help out Linden Lab, by adding an irrelevant roadblock. Why not simply judge people on their relevant experience, rather than a piece of paper which may be completely irrelevant to what the position entails. I am more than capable of fulfilling a 'liason' style role, and would apply, if it were not for this issue.
Unless you really do take people on their individual merits, of course, rather than discounting them simply because they chose vocational training and earning a living over spending 4 years drinking subsidised beer.
