First, in response to this quote;
At the moment however, our priority has been performance improvement and system stabilization, so all new features, including reputation system, are on the back burner.
THANK YOU!!!!!!! About time.....
Now, about the welcome area...
As previous stated, the Welcome Area is a cesspool. I talked to a new Resident today and during the course of our conversation, he informed me he almost turned around and left SL after just entering it.
I do understand that there may be a lot of Abuse Reports (and yes, mostly they are the fault of Open Registration, but more that the Teen Grid is Closed Registration still.), but the Welcome Area is one part that needs to be controlled. You can't be everywhere, ture, but you can be where you are needed most.The Welcome Area is the first thing new Residents see, and a big impact on thier view of SL.
You say that it is "our" world and that we should Abuse Report any problems there.
1) Hanging in the Welcome Area uses one of the forty allowed Residents per sim quota. With the high influx of new Residents, I think other Residents should stay clear of it to allow for less lag and to allow even loggins in at times.
2) Abuse Reports do nothing for the overall view of SL by new Residents. The new Resident can niether see, nor understand the connotations of an Abuse Report. Add to the fact the length of time required for action on Abuse Reports and it makes them useless here. Appearances mean more than delayed reaction.
3) "We" are doing something about "our" would. "We" the Residents, are telling you, Linden Lab, to place a Linden monitor (or a monitor with the ability to handle problem Residents, up to and including 24hr banning) in the Welcome Area to ensure it is the type of environment "we" wish new Residents to see first of "our" world.
In case all that confused you, we're telling you to get off your ass and do what we pay you to do instead of giving us the lawyer double-talk and quit shoveling while we can still breath.
Now, my question: Will you actually do it and make "our" world a little better?
