In the wake of all the texture stealing occurences as a result of the reverse engineering OpenGL tool, is there any possibility of an update to the SL client that can detect and prevent the use of it somehow, even if it is a temporary stopgap measure for now?

I would assume this is relatively high priority, since the marketability of SL as a product relies heavily on it as a secure platform for content development.

Censorship in the forums is counter productive as it simply just draws more attention and the method by which it is done is easily googled or passed on through word of mouth. Just like an ostrich burying its head in the earth.

Thanks.

Let me check on the status of the first use wrapper, which will help to protect both textures and sounds by making it clear who was the first person to use the texture. This information will go a long way toward helping people prove their copyright.
