The Media Page of the SL website is one place I send people to see the machinima as an introduction to what can be done in SL.

But - it reminds me of the lame (and hopefully discontinued) RealPlayer protocols from the 1900s. I mean, BUFFERING for 5 secs every ONE second is a bit insane.

There's some of the most beautiful machinima there, but it's downright PAINFUL to try to watch anything hosted there, and embarrassing when you are trying to impress people with their first glimpse of how wonderful SL is.

Maybe it's just my DSL connection, but it's an average DSL speed and I normally get better-than-dialup performance in most cases.

I know this isn't a high priority thing, but just hoping to bring it to your attention in hopes for a better viewing experience in the future. Thanks for your consideration.

The problem might lie between your flash player and your connection. Flash video is pretty lightweight and typically smooth via progressive download. We'll keep an eye on this and take necessary steps if we hear more reports of the issue.
