First i like to say I am not fond of the new set up.

Things were confusing enough before now it is worse.

Clarification NEEDs to be made on how it works. who in their right mind puts out a complicated product or system without directions and FAQ! please get organized.

according to this if i put 25k in Market Sell it says i will get 71.17 estimate
but in limit sell it says i will get 68.66 estimate. ??!?

so limited sells means i make less or make even less then less if they buy it at a different price?

or

do i risk a chance for less at market price?

All i want is a solid estimate so i know if i only need 100 US dollars i put it for sell to get 101US to cover my paypal fee. Some of us pay bills with our sales and there isnt much room to gamble with what you might get.

the main reason before alot of people would throw down some god awful amount making themselves a whole 98 cent is because the lindex is confusing.

I do like being able to know what i am getting, this new set up doesnt tell me squat. I can change the exchange rate number from 320 to 300 and it doesnt change the estimate like the previous way did.

Why did you all have to get all complicated and fancy with it anyways.
couldnt ya just sold lindens in block like GOM did? was far less confusing and people made less mistakes they knew how much they were buying and selling in 1kL incriments. (blocks)

you all keep trying to find a better solution to it all (making it more confusing) but if ya just kept it the way it was and return any lindens not sold in say 2 weeks you'd have less problems. I see money sitting there from 2005-10-03

until there is more clarification on Linden Labs end I don't think I want to use Lindex. I dont feel like wasting money to test which way works for what.

Kat

ps. wtf is this? L$78609 / US$1.001L$5,000,000 can we confuse people more?

Hi Katana,

Regarding the difference between Market and Limit Buys, the estimate will probably be different most of the time, as they are completely different kinds of orders.

A Limit Buy order essentially means "I want to control EXACTLY how much I spend, and how much I get. If I CANNOT get the deal I want, DON'T get me anything." Limit Buy estimates are simple- your quantity of L$ divided by your limit rate.

A Market Buy order essentially means "I want to buy lindens, find the BEST price for me AT THIS MOMENT, but GET ME SOMETHING no matter what." Market Buy estimates are done using the sell offers AT THAT MOMENT.

In addition, keep in mind that the market is live- great deals are snapped up fast, and it CAN happen between the time you start the buying, and the time your order actually is placed and executed. So estimates are exactly that- just estimates! :)

The exchange rate number DOES change the estimate- however, there was a problem with the way IE works with Javascript, but we've gotten around that as of this morning.

I understand your frustration with complication- markets can get complex in a hurry, and now you've got two options to sell and two options to buy. You can always turn your Currency Exchange Interface to the Basic version, which performs Market Buy/Sells and does NOT give you the full complicated set of open buy/sell offers.

So the summary?

- Use Market Buy if you just want to buy/sell some L$. It's convenient, but not guaranteed. Estimates are pretty close.

- Use Limit Buy if you want to specify EXACTLY how much to spend.

- Switch to the Basic Currency Exchange Interface if it's too complicated!
