Now when I collide with something on my vehicles I get lofted into orbit. Any ideas? Or is it just the servers trying to setlle down under the heavy upgrade load?

The recent upgrade should not have made such a radical difference. Consider: - removing all attachments
- testing with multiple vehicles, including those made by others
- doing this in different regions
- finding other Residents who're experiencing the same thing as you
