Missing asset question

From all I've read (sorry for the colourful explanation but it's the best I can recall/understand :)) it seems that if an asset goes missing, it means it's been accidently marked as orphaned and ends up in a sort of asset purgatory awaiting either restoration or actual deletion.
If we try to reference a missing asset we get the database error, but meanwhile in the background some process reaches into the purgatory and hopefully patches things up which is why we're being asked to wait a while before contacting.

My actual question is what happens when an asset goes missing, but isn't referenced for a very long period of time? Does LL fix all missing assets, or just the ones that get flagged or that we report?

For example, something I may have bought as far back as May when I started, but haven't ever worn or rezzed in forever. If it - at any time since then - went "missing", and if it would take a few more months for me to actually wear/rez it again, is it going to be there, or irretrievably lost?

Quoth Kelly Linden: We are in the process of restoring the items. This process should finish sometime tonight.

I am refering to items that report 'asset missing from database', if you are seeing a different error then please do let us know.

To your specific question, the object in your inventory should behave the same whether you've ever used it or not and regardless of the length of time you've had it. It's hoped that it will be usable again along with the rest of your inventory. :)
