I'm trying to find out about commercial property. If I buy a piece of land and run a business on it do I have to pay for any type of commercial business fees? Are there any types of permits you have to buy in the game? If there is a page also explaining how much land or prims you have to have in order to have a lot of people on your property.

Hi Launlori, welcome to Second Life!

There are no special rules or taxes for commercial property in Second Life, although in choosing a parcel you might want to make sure you locate near other businesses rather than in the middle of a residential area.

The number of prims depends on the size of your parcel. There are 15,000 prims allowed on each server region (sim). You receive an allocation of prims depending on the percentage of the region you own. So for example if you own 10% of the region, you will have 10% of the prims, or 1500.

Mainland regions are limited to 40 avatars at a time. They can all be in one place or spread out across the region.

Good luck with your business, and let us or a Second Life mentor volunteer know if you have any more questions!
