A few days ago I was in Arcadia 1 and there were about forty people there. With so many users online at the same time, the game I was playing was barely playable. However, with fewer users in the sim, most games ran very smoothly.
Are the Arcadia 1 and 2 sims being run on one server? If so, what are the hardware specs of that server (CPU, RAM, etc)? Would moving the sims to a beefier server help when there are a high number of players?

Arcadia 1 and 2 are on different servers. This can be confirmed by going to HELP menu ---> ABOUT SECOND LIFE. Currently, Arcadia 1: sim971.agni.lindenlab.com Arcadia 2: sim981.agni.lindenlab.com Both of these are Class 4 servers. More info on the specs is here: http://secondlife.com/tiki/tiki-index.php?page=SimClassesWhat you describe is consistent with any general region with many active scripts and avatars. That's just the way it is, altho certainly, the technology will get better. We're going to make strides towards greater performance in different areas, including viewer framerates (which is important for the "responsive feel" of games, even in relatively empty regions); good for us all. More fun.
