Question about rolling restarts

With the recent grid problems, a decision was taken to perform rolling restarts. Awesome! No need to log out. However shortly after that, we had scripts disabled so we could do absolutely nothing of interest in world (ok you could visit some nice places etc but you couldn't buy anything, use anything with scripts etc).

I guess I kind of want to know how you decide on these things. Given the fact SL was by and large completely useless with scripting disabled, would it have sped the process up by just abandoning the restarts and booting everyone off for 10 or 15 minutes (or however long it takes) and doing a grid reset? Or does it not work like this.

I know people bang out about being kicked off - but if they were booted off to get their scripts sorted, I know I wouldn't have minded and I'm quite sure lots of others wouldn't.

It was awful with scripts being down for as long as they were. However, must give thanks for keeping everyone up-to-date with what was happening as it did make the suffering more bareable. Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback Damian, during a crisis situation like what happened during the grid attack yesterday and this morning, we try to make the best decision for the entire community.
