Hiya, Question for the Bug-Hunting Lindens; I try very hard to find out how to reproduce Bugs I find. I know it makes your lives so much easier (at least a bit) to have as much information as possible. However, there are times when I can just not reproduce a Bug consitantly, but I still get it regularly (the UI Window "Freeze" Bug being the one atm). Are Bug Reports with little to no Reproduction Information still looked at? I wish to know, not to bitch, but to know if I'm wasting my time, and the time of the Bug-Hunters, by filing such. Are they looked into slightly with the possibility that someone with more programming skills than me (like..oh...a rock. ) might have the chance to know what the heck is going on? Or do Reports like that get dumped into the round file? Would that fact that I found a "fix" for this particular Bug help? (It doesn't stop it, but it can "unfreeze" the UI WIndow. See my previous post in Answers about it.) What helps to report, and what helps to not report? I want to give all the info that's helpful, but I do not want to flood the team with useless info either. ~Jessy

I will forward this to our eXtreme Bug Hunters! Also useful which all Residents should know about so they feel more confident about reporting bugs: http://secondlife.com/tiki/tiki-index.php?page=Bug+Reporting+101http://secondlife.com/support/known-issues.php

Thanks for your question, Jessy. Bugs with repros are much more useful than bugs without repros! That said, if QA sees reports from many people (not just many reports from one upset person) with similar summaries - eg. variations of "UI" and "freeze" - then we can better determine the priority of the bug. Thus, even if you don't have a repro, reporting a bug can help us set the priority of the bug. Work-arounds for bugs are also useful, and sometimes give us a hint about the cause of the bug. We endeavor to include work-arounds with the known bug reports ( http://secondlife.com/support/known-issues.php) If you're unsure of the trigger that causes the bug, it helps to report the last few steps you did, eg. "edited my object, clicked in the scale X field, typed 20.0, Hit Enter". That will give us a good place to start searching for a bug. And remember, pictures are worth a thousand words, so please check the "Include Snapshot" option in the bug reporter! Snapshots often provide us vital clues to the bug.
