FAO TORLEY!! What can I do about paying for rent when I am offline?

I paid 6 weeks of rent to my landlord on 11/11 believing (HA! So foolish) BT when they told me I would be back online within 5 days.

Well, today I found out that they have just started digging up the road and if I am very VERY lucky I might have a phone line by 18th December but still no net access and no way to log in from work (I work for a company who would not be pleased to have my 2nd life in my 1st one :) )

And there I was feeling paranoid about paying six weeks upfront!

I love where I live. I've worked really hard on it and I don't want it going back to inventory.

I do have a real life friend on here whom I trust with way way more than the Lindens in my account and I would be absolutely delighted if she can pay my rent for me by logging in as me but would that get us both into trouble for account sharing? I am guessing that it would, even though the password would be changed by me as soon as it was done.

Am I right? Or is this permissible under certain circumstances? Or do I really have to go round to a colleague's house and let him see my SL (I really don't want him to know!)

By the way Torley I read your site and while I am really sorry that you have hyperacusis, I wanted to thank you for the information you have posted there. I recognise the symptoms I have had real trouble articulating to people who just think I am crazy when I tell them that certain sounds hurt my ears (I have some hearing loss and some treble frequences make me have to simply leave the room, much to the bafflement and annoyance of my partner). I am going to follow up on this with my doctor, thank you for making that information available!

Thank you Cherry for your nice words and for asking... through all the adversities of my First Life, I've found Second Life. So bad stuff led to good stuff. I'm thankful.

Now, about your question, the Terms of Service says sharing accounts is against our policy:

Which means, we can't stop you, but do understand if anything bad happens to your account, it's not our responsibility after that. :(

So the decision and the trust you have in your friend, is up to you. I sure hope you can get the rent paid on time, or at least, if a message can be sent to your landlord, informing them of the situation — perhaps they will understand and allow you more time!

All the best with this.
