How does LL plan to promote the creation of quality non-commercial content in SL?
I know that CC licencing is coming, but I worry that without dwell bonus and with less in the way of stipends, the grid will become sharply geared towards projects that make their own money, like malls, and we will see less interesting, creative builds that really draw people into SL, because the mechanisms aren't in place to reward that sort of activity automatically - people that do them have to rely on tips at a time when far less money is going into the economy.
What's the plan? This isn't a criticism, I assume you have a plan, I'm just curious to know what it is.

Ah! Another fine question. I'll point the way towards some key steps we're already done. As you prolly know, the current Infohubs on the mainland have been created by the talents of diverse Residents. Each one has its own particular flavor. These Infohubs are meant to be welcoming, gathering places for Residents new (as they arrive from Help Island) and older (like our super volunteers to shine the way) alike. But wait, that's not all... You know that Ivory Tower of Primitives? Damn good resource for learning how to build things; Lumiere Noir has been a venerable Resident--and such a nice guy--and so, we've taken the next step and made it a Linden Location. Quality? Check. Non-commercial? Check. Content? Check check! We don't have a rigidly formal system in place. To do so might bungle our heads in more bureaucracy and hand-knotting than Brazil. In other words, lotsa-words-no-action-makes-us-sad. We are, however, continuing to scour the grid for Resident-created content of tremendous benefit to the community at large. (Hope to see some new classics soon!) And I've been learning from other online worlds lately... There has an interesting approach on a related note: http://info.there.com/idx/15/482/article/Member_creations_as_persistent_world_additions.html NOT saying this is what we're doing, or what we'll do. However, wherever inspiration can be found, it can be appreciated. More to come . . .
