Does libsecondlife compromise IM privacy?
Somene else suggested this possibilty to me.

libsecondlife can only see IMs to or from the account it is logged in as.
Packet sniffers can only see IMs to or from accounts currently logged into from the machine they are on - or who's network traffic goes directly through them. ie a proxy server or something.
