How long has the land store been open?

How long has the land store been open? I hurried home today to be here when the land store was announced to be open, at 1pm SL time. I made it home with 10 minutes to spare and realized to my dismay that the land store was already open. Given that there are only 150 islands left at the old rate, I am concerned that if they are given out on first come-first serve basis, then I will have lost my opportunity. I've never used the land store before, but there were yellow "reserved" dots all over the map.

My question is: is it first-come, first-serve, and if so, when did the land store open today? I am starting to feel like as a customer I am in some twisted game of chess with the Lindens where I am expected to anticipate my opponent's next move, and be thinking three moves ahead.

I would also like to express my frustration that my credit card was charged even though I had enough US$ in my account to cover the purchase price of the island. That makes absolutely no sense. It costs both parties more money that way.

I have only been a member for a year. As a clothes designer, have enjoyed making a positive impact on the enjoyment of other players and on the Second-Life economy. I hope Second Life continues to thrive and evolve for a long time to come. I find myself baffled at the misteps the Lindens are taking with their customers and devloper-residents given the high level of media scrutiny. Please take the time to consider what you are doing, and the impact of your actions on new and old customers alike. Its fun being the next big thing, but if you disavow your vision, then where are we?

Thanks.
