How to remove myself as owner

I needed to get promoted to owner temporarily in a group I am in so I could deed
land to it, but when I tried removing myself as owner back to member I was
unable to. Nor is the real owner and founder of the group able to change my status.

I have around 6,000+ meters donated to the group and a monthly tier of $40, so
I'm afraid of what might happen if I left the group and rejoined as a regular
member. I've read around the documentation and I think I could leave the group
and rejoin, and then donate tier to the group, but i want to make sure nothing
strange will happen to the group land in the meantime - I have read in one
knowledge base entry the group has 3 days to make up the lost tier, another entry says
seven days - and with the ownership promotion being made permanent in a recent
patch I'm not sure which document to go by, or whether that also was changed in
a subsequent patch with no subsequent change to documentation.

I've tried contacting support@lindenlabs.com as recommended by live help, but the email was bounced with a time out error. This quesiton should be of sufficient broad scope to have utility in this forum, I hope.

thanks for any help on this.

On the Members & Roles tab, on the Member sub-tab, select yourself. In the box on the lower left uncheck the box next to the 'Owner' role. Choose Apply. You can only do this for yourself.

If that fails, it is probably a bug! You should be able to remove yourself from the owner role. You may need to relog after this is done for the change to take effect, but you shouldn't even need that. If it doesn't work please file a bug report.
