I just treated myself to a new motorcycle on SL only to find out that I can't ride it on almost all the roads, as I don't have "permission to create" on them. Is there any place I can find a road or three to ride on?

There are lots of public roads in Second Life -- all through the lake district in the east for example. There are also the 6 vehicle sims, just to the south of the Ahern Welcome area, where there are several tracks for racing.
You may find that you have to rez your vehicle off-road and then drive on to the road. There's an area just south of Busy Ben's in Oak Grove where you can rez your vehicle and then drive into the vehicle sims.
