Ghost trains and big prims - 2 questions in 1!

Hi!

A couple of quick questions, as short and sweet as I can:

1) Ghost Train!

Sometimes the nonphysical, scripted trains that run in Caledon leave 'ghosts' when crossing a sim border - the entire train chugs on, but sometimes a railcar visually seems to be left behind.

No collision effects - and the ghosted cars 'go away' if those who see it re-log. What (if anything) can I do to reduce this problem? I've been wondering if turning the vehicles physical for the crossing would help.

2) Big Prims.

This is in regard to the private sims only - not the mainland! While I'm no fan of sim-engulfing prims, it seems most people can handle a 20x20x.5 rectangular prim well enough, and avoid problematic issues like sim borders, &c with just a little education.

The main question is: Will there be an attempt to modify or remove these fairly benign 'oversize' prims from private servers in the future, or will they be left alone?

I'm also presuming no one will get in trouble for reasonable use of them in a private server based upon some Linden feedback in-world. I presume this is the general policy? If not I'd like to know, so I do not tell Caledon residents the wrong thing.

Hello Des, :)

(1) Object ghosting is a "phantom menace" (ha-ha!) which, like smallpox, should've been eradicated ages ago. I've only seen it rarely in recent times; looks like you may have a sort of consistent repro there, can you please file a bug report and please email me (torley@lindenlab.com) the #? What would be helpful is looking for other instances of similar content that do this.

I'm not sure if it's related, but I know the Linden tram which runs to Luna unseats avatars when crossing a sim border -- more investigation to be done.

(2) We're currently deciding this because cases of "oversize prim" abuse, using them to obstruct passage, have pained some of our Liaisons terribly. While we don't want to break content, it's *possible* we may prevent future rezzing of such objects across all of Second Life, with the disclaimer that they were never supported by our building system in the first place.

Unfortunately, that likely also means it'll affect "reasonable use"; I'd recommend sticking to "normal prims", and in the meantime, yes, you won't get in trouble for having oversize prims on your own land. :)
