Broken Blog (?) and Rolling Restarts

A couple of curiosities...

As I write this, it appears that the grid has been under attack/in repair for about 8 hours. Rolling restarts have been rolling for about 3.5 hours, and scripts are still down.

This means that I cannot conduct business, dance, or even hug a friend. For most, this is a minor irritation, for me it's a triple whammy because now have to fit all my appointments into an already tight schedule - not to mention the administration time involved in rescheduling.

Before I go into a totally unproductive rant, I wonder why you didn't just restart the entire grid at once? It seems to me that it would have saved an enormous about of time, especially when you multiply it by the number of residents trying to work.

Assuming that you never seem to be able to...why haven't you set up the ability to restart all the grid at once?

Secondly...it appears that I cannot post a response to the blog, even though I am logged into the website. Apparently my username/password are not valid. And don't tell me it's cookies...they are enabled.

Or have I been permanently banned from posting on the blog because I dared to object to a Linden blog entry about the UN Peace Day when the grid was inoperable?

Sincerely yours,

Bazoo, thanks for your questions. First, many Residents reported having problems registering to comment on our blog and the registration requirement ended up causing more difficulties than benefits, so it has been turned off. Hopefully in the future we will be able to implement a blog which automatically recognizes Second Life accounts. Read more about the change here.

Second, you may want to take a moment to read Robin's outline to our security plan in this blog post. We take these attacks very seriously and have already begun planning our strategy to counter them.
