Since roughly 8am SLT Monday (and even Sunday afternoon as well), myself and other people have asked for a CLEAR statement from Linden Labs about whether the recent missing items bug is based in actual corruption of database records or simply a bug in the asset server code. In other words, are the missing objects actually SAFE and INTACT in our database records and simply not being pushed to our client inventory lists by the asset server? Or is the problem truly based in corruption/loss of our actual database records?
The answer to this is EXTREMELY easy to determine on your end (see my post near the top of the relevant blog entry). Yet you’ve left us all hanging for an entire day with no direct response to that direct question. If the problem is a temporary one, you could assuage a lot of fears and help people to feel SAFE in logging in their AVs. If the problem instead risks permanent loss of inventory items, then you are REMISS in not alerting the resident population to this potential for permanent item loss.
Either way, please do the right thing and post some details about whether the bug affects our database inventory or merely the asset server’s ability to feed the correct inventory information to our clients.
