I have noticed that any texture that is made even just 1% transparent completely ignores the shiny and bumpiness settings.
Is this intentional behaviour? If so, why?
If not, is it on the list of things to fix, and how soon?
I think it would be a most useful thing to have, for example a realistic reflection in glass.

It's intentional, but there's this legend... called "translucent shiny"... I'll ask Runitai to find out more.

It's on my radar. The reason transparent objects can't be shiny is because transparent objects have to be drawn in order and setting up to draw something as shiny is computationally expensive. It's a performance issue.
We had a solution at one point, but it got pulled back for compatibility reasons.
