Reread my post after you answered, Torley. I did talk in circles there. *snickers* Sorry for the confusing way that sounded. Let me try again to word the question correctly. Your answer was perfect, but for information you have already passed to me (not that I expect you to remember every post, lol. That's my job to explain as the poster)

Anyway, I know what can, and can not be in a profile currently. and that currently profiles are open to all. I understand that Mature Land must be visited to be sen and that age restricts avies from visiting Mature Lands if under 18.

What I would like to know is why there is not an option to make our profiles Mature Profiles or PG Profiles as we can for sims? Would not a simple age check being used upon attempting to view a residents profile be easy to implement? The age check is already in place as <18's are prevented from entering Mature Lands. I'm just looking at a different application of such.

Example: Jane wants to look at John's profile. Jane is under 18. Jane does a SEARCH by PERSON, and gets only John's name, join date, partner, and the buttons to IM, OFFER TELEPORT, MUTE, etc, as well as the "drop inventory here" spot. The ABOUT, PICKS, 1st LIFE, would be blocked with a standard "MATURE CONTENT, 18+ ONLY" (or somesuch) warning showing that John has set his profile to MAUTRE.

Basically I'm asking if we can have the tools implented so that we can put things in our profile we wish to, yet still remain within the rules of the Global Standards. Our profiles are an extension of our personallities. They allow us to convey more about ourselfs in a few minutes with things we can not readily see in-world. We replace facial expressions, body stance, voice mannerisms, etc, with our profile to show others how we really are. Not being able to put in Mature Content restricts us, if only slightly.

To make it clear and simple for my question;

Why can we not have the option encoded into SL so that we may put Mature Content in our Profiles if we wish, while continueing to adhere to Global Standards by restricting <18 Residents from viewing sections of our Profiles?

Dude, you are a true and good friend, and I love you like the brother that my mom claims she never had, but you are in fact acting like a flaming douche on white toast with a side order of dickknob salsa..maybe you should reconsider this course of action and we go find something else to do.

Gotcha, Jessy! I don't know of a constraint limiting this, apart from it requiring work and some logistics. And rewording the Community Standards to make room for this. We've got developers currently looking at improving other aspects of self-expression and identity in SL, and to my knowledge, this isn't on the list but if it's really popular and wanted, we should know about it!

(I'm glad you brought up the part about blocking Mature content too--that was gonna be the next thing I was gonna say!)

The key thing here, then, would be demonstrating Resident interest in the community, which is weighed on things like the Feature Voting Tool to help us prioritize what to do. I'd recommend if you're passionate about it, please do go ahead and make a feature vote proposal--if nothing else, it's on the record!
