SL and Dial up

Hi.

I arrived to this world and felt in love of it (too much, i guess).

And I am impressed of how this works: no need too much Hard disk space for install it, and works with a huge lvl of polygons (same and maybe more detailed than SWG or Everquest 2).

Maybe it is a silly question, considering what I wrote above, but I think many ppl from my country would love to play it, but unfortunally the DSL and Cable technology here still in progress and it is expensive yet, maybe the 70% of internet users here are working in a Dial up connection system.

Is it a chance than SL would work "decently" in a Dial up connection? if not now, in a close future?

In the other hand, the big limitation I see in this world is the vidcards, there are a ton of types of videocards, and as I could see these days you have a limited range. Sometimes I thought to upgrade my vidcard but I'm afraid I could do a great decision for my work- software and my games (WoW, FS2004, etc), but It would not work for SL.

Thanks in advance and plz excuse my bad english.

Back in the day, Bert... there was a legendary Resident... Shebang Sunshine her name was. Acclaimed for "shebangin' it", which was a term used to describe her adventurous means of getting on SL on a dial-up modem despite numerous technological obstacles. She was the first to do this.

Unfortunately, for the very reason that SL needs to download so much data to your computer--especially textures, which are like hundreds and hundreds of JPEG images from the web--it's like sucking an ocean through a straw with dial-up. :( So, no plans to make it more compatible with dial-up at present, altho you're welcome to experiment at your own caution.

We also do know that there are Residents who run on Intel Extreme or other unsupported graphics cards--we don't have the resources at present to support them as well (there are enough problems we're trying to solve on the supported hardware, the way things are)... but we will certainly announce if this does ever change. It's just not in the foreseeable future.

Your English is fine and I hope you're able to enjoy SL in a more comfortable way, Bert!
