Traffic on Islands

Hi)

Is there any way you can give private island owners the option of setting their traffic on their islands as one whole number, even thought they might have parcelled off land so that tenants can use their own radios and TV's etc..

I find it hard. My traffic is all over the show. I try to advertise my shop, my rentals, and my club in about land, which is very hard to fit it all in. So i parcelled off small sections of land to advertise them seperately, But they never give a true repesentation of the real traffic.

I have found that the higher traffic you have, the more sales you make, or the more popular your Island is. The majority of people tend to shop or visit at the places with the higest traffic thinking they must be the best.

My Island got knocked out of the Find Places advertisement for a whole week before i found out, and my sales plumetted, even though i was still advertsing in the Classfieds. This goes to show the true power of the normal Find Places search engine, and how traffic effects a lot more than what dwell you will receive.

No, Leah, this can't be done because it would be quite unfair--including to those on the mainland. A parcel is a parcel.

I know firsthand of some very successful businesses in SL whose traffic numbers are healthy, but not ginormous. And yet, they sell lots! Consider not-so-obvious ways to promote and advertise. "Big traffic" is one metric, and certainly not the only one. In our Residents, there's a lot of creativity and ingenuity--those who adamantly don't want to play the "numbers game" will surely find their own ways to succeed.

I've enjoyed visiting Bliss and know you have quite an ample main parcel, so you are not doing anything wrong in the way of subdiving excessively!

And, if high traffic is what you want, then there can be no better place than learning from what's established and visiting many--or all--of the locations in FIND ---> POPULAR PLACES to get a better feel for techniques and strategies involved as they are actually used. Feel free to discuss more on the SL Forums too, I know a lot of work is involved but hopefully you will find it rewarding and it will pay off for you.
