Dale Glass raised a point regarding Linden quotes inside forum threads: they tend to get buried. While the blog structure (Linden post leads) keeps the main post from getting buried, I noticed that the Lindens are replying to comments within the comments section. As the comment thread gets longer we see the burying effect again (and this time you don't have orange fonts). What I suggest is that for particularly hot topics, as evidenced by number of comments, that the main post be edited periodically with a sort of summary of the comments. You would have the comment-derived salient points and questions laid out complete with a concise Linden answer below. In effect, it adds a FAQ to the bottom part of the post. That way, points that have already been covered will not be repeated. I'm thinking summary "FAQs" can be updated every 10-20 posts unless some really good point was made meriting instant FAQ addition. It's still easy to read 20 posts, but much beyond that makes the reading very difficult.

Thank you graciously for your suggestion, Aodhan! (And 1,500 posts round--great!) Okay, so what we're looking at here are some parallels. One of them happens to be WordPress plugins for managing comments better, and highlighting--which conceivably could be done in the method you describe. Also, another thing I've been considering is, like "reader mail", important points from a comments thread, if there are enough and of sufficient interest to be of broad value, could be responded to in a new blog post. (Not the same, I know--just sayin'.) Leading back to the main of what you said-- GREAT idea you have... perhaps I will try this soonesque! I bet a real-world situation is gonna smack me in the ass and give me a perfect opportunity. It's also totally consistent with my habit to do: [UPDATE] In response to the following comments, I just wanted to mention...
Thanks to you and Dale for raising this. *adds your post to Official Linden Blog improvement umbrella*
