Been away from forums for a couple of days - is it true that they've cut the stipends for newbies? Who was the freakin' genius to come up with that plan? Has some supremely wealthy *Land Baron* influenced this decision?
I met a newbie the other day and she asked me how one goes about making any money in SL. I thought it was an easy enough question to answer...
Well, since she had no skills in building, scripting and setting up vendors, starting a buisness for her was out of reach for months at least.
She obviously has no experience playing games much less hosting, so getting a job that pays the RL equivalent of 50ยข per hour is out of the question.
I said she could learn to gamble and hope to make some money that way, but by definition, it's a gamble, and if she does gamble and lose, how is she to build any cash from zero? Prostitution?
She could go from Money Tree to Money tree plucking $1L bills, or sit like a zombie for hours on end in one of the few camping chairs left - but is that the experience you want new people to have?
Answer me - what am I to tell a new person who asks how he or she can make a few dollars so they can properly enjoy the SL experience?
Jeeze- cut the stipends from those that are well established - which could be defined as anybody over 1 year in SL - but fercrissakes, let the new people have SOMETHING to play with!!!
Does chopping off the newbies' only source of $L make sense to anybody?
