Hiya,
Just purchase my first plot and joined the tier group (YAY!!! Bills in SL as well as RL lol), and was looking for an option, but don't see it.
Is it possible to pay our tier out of L$ directly instead of converting to US$ in a bank for LL to debit our accounts?
It seems to me that eliminating a third party (my bank, which is technically a FOURTH party as LL has a bank also, I assume) is a good thing as it prevents further "book-keeping" errors. Sending L$ for tier directly to LL makes sense, to me at least, and is no different than purcasing uploads (the 10L$ price for textures and sounds). I can see that with the fluctuation of L$-US$ that some system might have to be put in place for converting monies, but even to a non-programmer like myself, this sounds fairly easy to do since there is the base already (the texture and sound payments).
My suggestion would be to allow residents the choice to pay inworld or continue paying by RL credit card. An in-world billing system could be sent to automatically compute the current L$-US$ three to five days prior to billing and send notices to all landowners as to what they owe in L$. I would even be content with paying a 10L$ processing fee for this service, as with the textures/sounds.
Some may say it would be confusing, and I'm sure implementation would cause some issues. Esspecially since LL will have to have the CC debit as backup to ensure thier payment if L$ is not sent in on time. However, for the residents; we would no longer be dealing with an outworld agency (our banks). no longer having to convert L$ to US$ and the transactions history is there for proof of payment in cases of double-payments due to "book-keeping" errors that may pop up from time to time. LL, with a little bit of programming, makes for smoother transactions by offering residents payment options which best suit their budgets. Meaning a higher percercentage of payments being on-time and lowering the percentage of payments defaulting. The issue of LL having to convert the L$-US$ is moot as they already do such with the upload fees. This will simply increase the amount handled in this account.
If this should have gone under "Land and Economy", or is in place and I just can't find it, my appollogies. I'm not that proficient at surfing forums.
