Why not "Alpha" loading textures for "phantom surfaces"?

Very early this morning, which is usually a "down time" for the Internet so traffic is pretty fast, I got stuck in some prims among in a forest of Linden Trees after teleporting. Due to the grey loading textures I couldn't even see what I was stuck on.

Rather than teleporting out, I decided to wait it out. 15 minutes later all I could see was *still* nothing but grey loading textures. I relogged and a minute after that everything was fine.

The grey loading textures are clearly controversial, and I've seen variants on the following idea made multiple times in the feature requests, and I've made it myself. Do Lindens other than Torley even read that forum?

Anyway. Since it doesn't eem like the texture loading problems are easy to fix, how about at least going back to Alpha "smoke" textures for phantom surfaces (linden trees, particles, avatar attachments, and of course phantom prims). That would keep the people worried about running into things happy, and keep people from being blinded by particles or vegetation when teleporting into an area.

Argent, creatures of a feather... hehe... you know how it goes.

I AGREE.

I've made a request for this too based on the feedback of many Resis, and it is under development consideration in the queue. So while I can't guarantee anything at this time, do know that noone's voice from here has been unheard.

It just makes sense! ^_^
