I've been reading this forum over the last few days, and the flow of questions has gotten ridiculous. While I feel that you guys brought this on yourselves by closing the resident forums, I do have a possible way to make things easier on you if you continue to refuse to re-open the resident boards.
Right now, all posts to this forum go into what amounts to a big barrel of questions, about a wide variety of subjects. Since you're obviously getting overwhelmed, why not subdivide a little? Have sub-forums for questions about Policy, Using SL, Technical Issues, and so forth, whichever categories seem appropriate. Another variation would be to include subject-prefix tags that the poster can choose, so that threads would look like "[TECHNICAL] LOD Changes In 1.12.1?". This way, an appropriate Linden could find and respond to the appropriate questions, so Torley could save herself from posting "I'm passing this along" 20 times a day, and Kelly doesn't have to muck through "how do i put on cloths???".
Another idea would be to give volunteers (existing mentors, greeters, and LH-ers) the ability to post replies in this forum, and we could field the new-user-type questions that come up. There could then be a sub-forum for Linden Responses, where the tougher questions and/or the ones about LL's inner workings could be directed. This would drastically lighten the load on Torley, and give people faster responses to a lot of their questions.
As ticked off as I am about the closing of the General forum, I care about SL far too much to leave, and you guys are a sinking ship right now as far as customer service goes. Please, listen to your residents, let us help you survive. Because without paying customers, you don't exist, and our patience will only stretch so far.
