I submitted an AR about a newbie who admitted being 14 years old. I attached the chat log. That person is still online 2 days later.

On one hand, I see people getting suddenly banned for their name, without any investigation, and on the other, kids who have admitted frauding the registration process running around freely in an adult environment.

This is supposed to be SL Answers and it is frustrating to see so many important issues simply ignored recently. So here are 3 of my SL Questions:

1) What do you plan to do to stop the massive arrival of underage players on the grid?
2) What do you consider a reasonable delay between the AR of an underage player and their ban? Why has my AR been ignored?
3) Do you have measures in place that prevent a banned player from creating an alt right after their ban?

Allowing underage players access to adult material creates a very serious liability situation both for LL and for SL residents.

Heya Miel, it may take longer than you expect depending on the current abuse queue--sorry about that, but provided you sent in sufficient info of a self-admitted underage, action *will* be taken. You'll also get an email reply confirming your abuse report was resolved.

1) If there's a massive influx we've got methods planned. If worst comes to worst in some apocalyptic nightmare, we can always revert to the old registration system. BTW, it's also worth noting that there was a time when Basic accounts were US$10, and when they became free, some wondered if that would prompt a rush of underagers--stating the reason that "any smart teen can dig out their parent's credit card". So many opposing points to it, but behind-the-scenes, we're not idle.

2) Oh, see my first paragraph.

3) Yup, we sure do. We have a variety of methods and are adding more. We actually have some new techniques that didn't exist last year, and they continue to be improved--they can't be disclosed, because that's like the magician saying how all the doves hide in the hat.

BTW, one horrible thing I should tell you and that we've been asking to have changed: that "Include chat history" button is broken and does nothing. It doesn't include chat. :( Hopefully in your abuse report, you manually typed the approx. date and time the self-admission of "I'm 14" took place, and if you didn't, feel free to send in a new abuse report. Apologies for the inconvenience.

And, for the record, we comply with COPPA.
