Thank you for your timely response Torley,

I do understand that getting to the root of a problem is important in order to resolve an issue.

Is it possible that you tested Algira after it was reset? If performance is great in Algira then why did my Live Help Linden assistant have a difficult time moving about in my store and found himself stuck in my floor while attempting to assist me?

I am in agreement with you in that having good relations with neighbors is important which is why I do not put myself in a position to tell them what to do with thier purchased or rented land. I do not view this as contributing to ignorance. I view it as being respectful.

In addition, you had mentioned that the list of running scripts provided to me by Live Help assistance is of no concern with relation to lag issues. I would like to point out that the Live Help Linden assistants have told me that the items on that list provided are of concern with relation to lag issues. In effort to educate myslef, which answer is correct?

Also, please elaborate on the bad scripts concern that you had mentioned. Is there a way to control this issue?

I noticed that Lizbeth Marlowe also visited Algira and obviously had the same experience as I have been having. I do appreciate her feedback greatly. It does validate my concern.

Thank you for your information with regard to the Statistic Bar Guide. I will be monitoring it also.

Best Regards,

Carly

Heyhey Carly!

The reset was done after your last post here in SL Answers... so it was pretty recent.

It's quite possible there was a periodic problem--I don't doubt that. But again, look for sustained slowdowns.

BTW, an important thing I should mention is there are types of "lag" which are clientside--particular to your computer. A special breakdown for this is as follows:
  1. CTRL-ALT-SHIFT-D for DEBUG menu
  2. Then select FAST TIMERS from it
Fancy colored bars that break it down into components. Some of it is self-explanatory. You will also notice that a server can perform very badly but Fast Timers will keep chugging along quickly. This demonstrates the difference between the client (your end) and the server (the server with the region on it).

When it comes to scripts--easy thing is to look at Scripts Time under the Time (ms) part of the Statistics Bar. If it's well over 22 ms or so, I'd hunt down individual scripts, but otherwise, there generally isn't a worry.

I'll give you a good historical example: Sim FPS uses to be counted differently and inaccurately. It wasn't capped at a *true* value of 45 (frames per second, which is the speed the physics runs at), so some regions would have Sim FPS of 1000 and others had 400--not making a performance difference, but you see the psychology in numbers.

It's kewl Lizbeth wanted to help, but as I mentioned earlier, Time (ms) was not expanded, and some fluctuations are normal. Look for sustained probs--and infact, I see you're online right now, I'll check in with you right after I write this.

Is there a way to control bad scripts? Yes, there is. If a script is exceedingly performance-inhibiting, it will likely be removed by a Linden Liaison. HELP menu ---> REPORT ABUSE can also be used in such cases. In the future, there's going to be more system improvements too... the current method of scheduling scripts is relatively recent too, BTW.

Visit about a dozen regions with greatly varied conditions over several days. Spend at least an hour in each. Read the stats bar, compare with your feel. This is the holistic way of doing things, and gaining a better understanding empirically.

Cheerio! :)
