Even one teen on the Main Grid is too bad, imo. The interum of the current ssytem, or even providing landowners with tools on thier lands is inadequate. I'm glad to hear that Age verification will return. I don't understand why it isn't already. I do understand some countries can't be intergrated with CC info or PayPal. The previous system should still have been in place until a new system that checks age could be implemented.

That aside,

Adults ARE anonymous on the Teen Grid and it is in now way hard for them. Every payment verification on the Teen Grid is made by an adult. Let me repeat that. Every payment verification on the Teen Grid is made by an adult. Presumably the parent, but an adult none the less. So how, by any stroke of logic, can you say it will be harder for an adult to be anonymous on the Teen Grid?

Proving you are over a certain age with age verification checks is slightly harder. You must gain access to said verification (credit card, PayPal, etc) which require RW proof of age to aquire. Yes, underage persons can obtain these things, either by outright theft or parents simply not being as vigilant as they should, but it is unlawful via the real world.

There is no way to tell if a person is under the age of 18. Requiring payment verification only proves that there is an adult on the account. LL only has the word of said adult that it will be a teen using the account, not the adult whom verified the account. So unless LL is going to be contracting a security firm to do background checks on every account on the Teen Grid to affirm that there is even a teen who is a dependant of the adult supplying the payment information, that whole system is just worthless.

As to you don't think it is as bad as I make it out to be;
Have you look through the forums, or even read the Abuse Reports being filed by residents over underage persons? And these are only the ones who have messed up and admitted they were underage. With that in eveidence, what does that suggest to you about the number of teens who are on teh Main Grid and not making the mistake of telling anyone how old they really are?

I am quite upset that LL would not only remove any resistance to teens accessing the Main Grid, but actively make it more attractive to teens by having resistance to the Teen Grid that in no way, shape or form, prevents, nor can ever prevent, an adult from joining.

The arguement over teens causing more griefing on the Main Grid is moot. Teens are not to be allowed here for thier own protection. I ask you to right this, and quickly. If not for legal points, which LL affirms are covered though a lot are still in doubt, then for our children.

Residents gridwide told you thier views in the Feature Vote to bring back age verification. While I still affirm that this is the best course, for the community, for our children, and for the buisiness of Linden Lab, I offer another soultion: Restrict Unverified Accounts on the Main Grid to PG sims. Definately going to upset persons, but something is needed to be done, and soon. Already Residents have walked out on SL. Paying Residents. Agreed, not many, but while only hearing of a few, how many more have simply closed thier accoutns quietly and left?

So I ask you again, why is the Teen Grid less welcome to teens, and why is Linden Labs enticing them into an unsafe (for thier age) place as the Main Grid?

I understand your concern, and I agree that age verification is a priority. We're continuing to look for ways to improve identity systems and authentication generally. It can't happen overnight, so in the meantime we're also trying to make sure land owners have the tools they need to make informed decisions.
