I'll tell you why there's no FIRST LAND

There isn't a shred of mainland for under 14L/sqm (and that's a conservative estimate - I'm not in-game right now). That means you can immediately flip your first land for at least 7168L, a profit of 6656L or more. This gives people the incentive to create alt accounts, pay the $9.99 for one month, flip one piece of first land, make a modest profit on the transaction, then cancel their alt account.

I want to make it clear that I do not engage in this practice, nor do I think it is ethical or even allowed by the TOS. But with land prices where they are, this is why first land gets snapped up so quickly.

LL, you need to raise the cost of first land, create more of it, make account funding stricter (e.g. not allow people to use the same credit card in multiple accounts), or something. My suggestion would be to raise the cost of first land and make your billing department stricter with payment methods.

That said, I truly enjoy your product and think SL's economy is a great way to learn about business and entrepreneurship. Keep up the great work!

You're right, that people are taking advantage of the First Land program and using alts to grab the land away from genuine newcomers. For that reason we've changed the way we put First Land online, until we can implement what we think will be a better system. Until then, we'll be putting First Land up in small increments to decrease the attractiveness of buying it all up and flipping it.

And thanks for the nice words! :)
