with rising talk about LL bandwidth is there a chance to see a proper incermental updating system anytime soon?
phil has said in numorous occasions that "bandwidth is practcally free" but if you actually had 1 million individual users updating a 20 (caugh 26) meg patch,
i say users becuase each user might be like me and have a cupple few computers with SL on them .. but i usually DL once and copy over so we shall ignore that for now ...
say 20 terabytes per patch * 4 patches a month
you quite quickly reach into the tripple digit terrabyte range NOT including your normal operating overhead
now this isnt happening now, (see bloated membership posts) it might eventually .. seems like thats alot of wasted money to download mostly redundant information, and then you might not have to charge for support or jack estate prices up 50% (altho i personally never plan to by an estate, not my bag)
you might even save enugh to ditch the few and far between class 3 servers and still get that new pinball machine you guys are wanting (sry i joke)
anyway, hope to see some response
take care
