...but it is the way it is. From: Torley Linden What you describe doesn't sound like the way it should be--I will check with Jill for clarification to be sure.
I've tried it with alt accounts. Giving them a credit card and increasing my credit on file at LL (billing my credit card a minimum of $25) doesn't count as used, neither does buying L$ directly through the SL interface or through the LindeX webpage. Maybe my account(s) are just broken that way, who knows.

No, Not Really Karsten

From: Karsten Rutledge What 'Payment info used' actually means is 'Premium Account.' You can transfer money from a credit card to your account as credit (min $25, sounds like successfully billing payment source to me) and/or buy lindens from LindeX (gee, another successful billing) and you'll still be 'payment info on file.' I am basic memeber, and I am verified. I gave credit card number at signup. I do not think I will be premium, as I am not intending to buy land. I will rent land if I need some. I am sorry, Karsten, but you are mistaken. And Torley, I must ask, although is likely dumb question - why Watermelon?

Perhaps if you give your credit card at signup, but after the fact it doesn't seem to be so. I have an account to prove it. Like I said, perhaps my account is just broken, but in the future, you should leave SL answers to the Lindens, especially when it concerns other people's accounts. Thanks!

Merged. I've inquired with Jill, so I hope we can find out more about this. And, good question... why watermelon? From my interview with Second Life Insider: SLI: By the way: What is it about watermelons? Torley Linden: Ah, long story, and MANY reasons. I like the taste and smell. They are a good food. My biological father used to tell me tales... of Chinese Robin Hood-like characters, who stole watermelons from the rich and gave to the poor to feed them. And the colors are great and high-contrast. Top that off with I have Asperger's Syndrome so I must be obsessed. HA HA HA. It's wonderful in Second Life, I get to live out my passions and share them with others. It's also good because it's very convenient for others to refer to me... Watermelinden! Keeps things simple. That's just the opening of the rabbit hole, tho: http://www.google.com/custom?q=watermelons&sa=Google+Search&sitesearch=torley.com&cof=GALT%3A%23006600%3BS%3Atorley.com%3BVLC%3A%23005500%3BAH%3Acenter%3BBGC%3A%23DDFFDD%3BLC%3A%23FF0088%3BGFNT%3A%23009900%3BALC%3A%23FFCC00%3BBIMG%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Ffiles.blog-city.com%2Ffiles%2FM04%2F57618%2Fp%2Ff%2Fbackground.jpg%3BT%3A%23000000%3BGIMP%3A%23FFFFFF%3BAWFID%3A4525e79c3a50db28%3B&domains=torley.com
