Why do rules apply to some, but not others?

I was just curious why rules are applied differently to different people?

A few examples:

1) A post a while ago had mature content when you clicked the link, and the link was removed by a Linden. A different post today with mature content in the link was allowed to stay up, becuase the mature material was inside the link, and not directly on the SL forums.

2) I get items from people's JEVN servers, then give the items back/pay them off, and get punished for 3 days. Someone steals 20k from an exploit in one of my games, and does not get punished.

3) Someone posts about the SLCC in the general forum, and the thread does not get moved. Other threads about meetups are moved, why not this one?

This is just a few, I'm sure others could add to the list.
(This post is nothing against you Torley, it's just the general policy.)

This is such a hard question to answer nimrod, and one of the reasons that forum management is so difficult. Your title says that different rules apply to different people. I'd say that what's really happening is someone is trying hard to assess each situation as it comes up, in its own context, and coming up with a decision. It's not about the people -- it's about the circumstances of each individual case.
