Howdy Y'all -

I'm very new to SL and have many questions but this one is constantly a problem for me. I'll take something from inventory and find that all I need to do is click it for it to do it's intended operation. However, maybe at the time I only wanted to view exactly what that particular item was rather than execute the operation. Can someone tell me if there is an "Undo" button (as in AutoCad) or a "Back" button anywhere to stop this unintended execution?

As a specific example, I got a free box of fireworks and expected the items would be able to be set off individually but the instructions stated to only click and stand back. Since I was only looking to see what items were there and alone at the time I didn't want to waste the entire free box but didn't have a clue how to cancel it.

Aloha and thank you in advance for any help you can give me. - Mauidudi

Howdy to ya, Quintin!

I warmly welcome you to Second Life and the SL Forums.

Sorries, we don't have more global "Undo" buttons--there is an undo command while building or moving stuff around, but it doesn't apply to previewing items. Wish there was an easier way we could see a particular item without rezzing it inworld. It's long been a concern of ours, and from what I understand, there are a lot of engineering hurdles--but we've never forgotten about it. Hopefully someday.

What you can do in some cases, if you're quick, right-click the object and Edit it, and use TOOLS menu > SET SCRIPTS TO NOT RUNNING IN SELECTION if ya can. That can halt stuff from running midway.

Some objects are also intentionally designed to be single-use, and you can't undo that once you've used them. In such cases, since Second Life is a Resident-created world, I'd highly recommend contacting the creator and asking if they have free demos they can give you, or any further info that might help inform you of what their product can do.

Best of hope! :)
