Will we eventually be able to launch our own custom windows with the XMLified UI? Will windows and widgets be scriptable? Imagine the fun if all UI elements were available as scriptable components and could be mashed up in custom windows! We could do things like this: http://tateru.meratalk.com/I-want-this-1600.jpgXBL can be used with XML-based UIs to create custom widgies! Will SL be using XBL? http://www.w3.org/TR/xbl/Please, please, please!

The short answer is "eventually", although I don't know enough about XBL to say whether we will be able to integrate with it at some pointor not. Regardless it would be a ways out.
Short term plan is to allow user changes to the XML to be able to persist across updates. Once we have that it should be possible to make custom menus with favorite options, change shortcuts, and modify the buttons at the bottom of the screen ('Toolbar').
After that we will probably focus on other things for a while, but eventually we should get back to more customization.
