Been 15 minutes since I crashed out of SL and got around to relogging as Ruth in a unknown location. Restarted and was told that SL was closed. No Blog announcement yet ... nor...old fashion Forum Announcement. Here's a idea... assign 1 Liaison per "shiift" to be the poster av... responsible for immeadately updating those 2 areas. Shouldn't be too hard to respond to major issues ... Communicate with us please... Da Edit: Thankfully... "this time"... SL came back up shortly after this post. My suggestion is based on the thought that in crisis mode with SL and database issues... not every Linden is required to drop everything and work on getting SL back up and viable. I understand that issues arise and as SL becomes more code "bloated"... issues happen more frequently. I... and others... are just "geeky" enuff to want to know "what" any particular issue is. In the past we've seen SL offline for quiet a bit before there was any sort of post beyond the (often delayed) Status page. So... a more organized response is suggested.

Hi Sami, I hope each time something like this happens, we learn something from it and can do you better. Thank you for your suggestions: (1) The blog will have more technical info about what happens and why, it's great it's of interest to you. (2) Because of what can happen around the clock, whoever posts announcements may be the most readily available: sometimes Liaisons are swamped with issues inworld so Liaison supervisors Char and Mick may do a posting, or in yesterday's case, it was Jeska. Sometimes it's me. Also, what I wrote here: http://blog.secondlife.com/2006/09/11/logins-shutdown-momentarily/#comment-4368Be well.
