Is the grid down? Or in the process of going down?

Problem loggin in
01-01-2007 19:24
Hi,
I seem to be having a problem logging in. I was in for most of the day, and recently had to go AFK for a bit (maybe 1/2 hour the most). When I got back I apparently was disconnected. Now I can't seem to log in at all but the GRID STATUS says ONLINE. Starts to load in but seems to hang. I cleared out my cache, restarted the game, cleared out my main drive and still can't get in. Any ideas? Thanks, Alycia |

Question about this outage
01-01-2007 19:50
Dallas server
Does that mean a server in Dallas Texas has gone out, and while people on the eastern half of the United States cannot get in, those in California and the Civilized West coast can get in? |

There's been an outage between our co-location facilities, forcing us to limit service. For more information, please watch the Linden blog.

Question
01-01-2007 20:07
Dearly Darlings,
You all knew thanks to the weather channel that bad things were a-rolling in the west..No back up plan? I'm assuming this last outage is bad weather. If not...My ol' bones would like a nice story to sit by the fire with... Ever Yours, Mrs. Showdog Tiger _____________________

Nope, not bad weather. Keep an eye on the blog -- once we get an answer from the service provider we'll post there.

Summary of outage: At approximately 7:00pm PST on 01.01.07, a Gigabit Interface Converter (GBIC) Module responsible for parts of our network connectivity at one of our colocation facilities failed, causing a number of regions in Second Life to drop off the network and log out anyone connected to them. We switched the Grid over to “Linden logins only” while our colocation facility worked to replace the hardware. The component was replaced, network connectivity was restored, and we opened the Grid again to everyone at 8:23pm PST. A few of the affected regions are still down, and we are currently working to get them back online.
Please see our blog for more updates. Thank you. _____________________
