Hi! So you are going to identify the redident's machine(s) by a unique hardware hash. I think it's a neat thing to do and will stop quite a number of "passer-by" griefers, *if* they actually get banned. I have no problem with giving out my machine's ID to Linden Labs, since you have all my RL information anyway. But can I please ask for this (and yes, please, make the answer very technical, I can handle it): - What information is collected to build up the hash? CPU-ID? Mainboard serial? MAC? - Which hash system is going to be used? md5? blowfish? - Will the collected information be uploaded and hashed at LL or calculated client-side? If you can answer me these questions, I will happily give out the ID of my machine. If not, I will still have to give id, of course, but not be a happy kitty at all

hardware hash / trust

A hardware hash is neat idea. I look forward to seeing how it's implemented, whether it's opt-in or opt-out, etc. I don't imagine LL will attempt to keep the implementation details secret. That would run contrary to LL's stated and demonstrated policy of openness and wouldn't hold long before it was cracked, anyway. I wonder how / if the hash will be used to verify that an already-known avatar "is really who he should be." I sign in from several different computers and I hope that a hash system won't give me trouble with that.
