Why are IM's capped? Is there an option somewhere to uncap? if not, why not - its a pain in the backside for all us retailes who use IM's to track vendor sales etc etc

IMs are capped for a couple of reasons. The primary reason is database load. All offline IMs have to be stored in the database. The larger the table is the longer it takes to retrieve the messages which increases the load on the database. In fact, even with the cap as low as it is, storing and retrieving IMs still ranks pretty high on our database load. We are working on some changes to how we do this that will help us hopefully reduce the load and spread the load around some more.

The secondary reason is before we capped it logging in with lots of messages waiting would flood your connection so bad that your viewer would disconnect before you could even log in.

There are much better ways for tracking sales from vendors! Vendors can email instead of IM or use llHTTPRequest to update an external database or system. Additionally if you have IM -> email enabled, all offline IMs will go to your email - even those that won't be stored because of the IM cap.
