What is going on with Instant Messaging? All day long on 9/12 IM's are not received or massively delayed or even better - you are told the person is offline (which they most definitely are NOT).
What is the issue, and when will it be resolved?

My IMs Not Getting thru I think

I been IMing my friends, and I think they been trying to back. But there not going thru. Plus I loosing my friendship with people because of this! They think i'm ignoring them for no good reason!

Missing IMs and Presence Issues

I dont recall anyone mentioning that in addition to the minor inconvenience of the Friends Online on the website not working and Friends not showing online there seems to be a much bigger and possibly related issue. Things like IMs and TP Offers are also not working with any predictable regularity. I was standing next to someone last night, yet they were NOT getting my IMs nor were they getting my TP offers, even after we both relogged numerous times. This has had a devastating effect on my commerce. People are now IMing me (when they can) and sending emails directly to me, annoyed that I have not repsonded to an IM I never got, on or offline. I try to provide a level of customer service that i would expect to find in RL and even pay other residents to help me do this. I read that the presence issue will not be addressed by todays update. Although I love the new groups structure and tools and many other improvements, I can not think of anything more important than addressing a major malfunction in the communication systems. I have just invested a large amount (for me) in SL with the belief that at least the system wouldnt get worse, let alone look like its headed for a major meltdown. I am withholding my next phase of investment and am severly concerned about losing my initial investment. Having over 600,000 residents means nothing if we can not communicate.
When can we expect this to be addressed?

Merged these. There are several Presence-related issues, Zero Linden--who's done lots of investigating--let me know he knows of three specific things: 1) Your friends list shows all off line, even though they are on line. It never corrects.
2) You are on-line, but no one sees you as on-line.
3) You try to log-on, but the system tells you you are logging off and have to wait, and this situation doesn't remedy itself after five minutes.
We've got an update to 1.12.1 ongoing right now, please email me personally (torley@lindenlab.com) if you still continue to experience these "missing IM" problems after, along with the precise date+time and the region you're in, and who you're trying to IM. That should be a good start. If I'm inworld maybe I can test with you live too. |
