Thank you for the respons in this /139/a6/117141/1.html post.

It shows me, at least, that LL does still care for the community. I, for one, will attempt to curb my irritation with current new ideas and implentations and relate to my fellow residents to do the same.

On that note however, and in a response to Robin's answer to my post linked above, could the billing information supplied in our profiles be exchanged, or augmented, by the total hours a resident has spent in SL?

To me, the hours in-world mean more of a commitment than any form, or amount, of payment made. The standard "greifer" is not going to spend hundreds of hours in-world. The more stable resident will. Not taking from those who script/texture/design out-world. I just can not think of a way to track time spent in external graphics or animation programs. Many different programs are available to track online time in a specific grid system, so I am guessing one of them should interface with SL without too much bother.

Just a thought.

Dude, you are a true and good friend, and I love you like the brother that my mom claims she never had, but you are in fact acting like a flaming douche on white toast with a side order of dickknob salsa..maybe you should reconsider this course of action and we go find something else to do.

Jessy! Hey again. :)

I wish it was easy to measure commitment via hours inworld. But, what about the camping zombies out there? They sure spend lots and lots of hours but don't do very much. :\ (I know it from experience too, having been a camper myself muhahaha.) One could say, "Well then, measure their activity levels and what they're actually doing!" but that might be incredibly resource-prohibitive to keep such logs, in addition to Residents having more privacy concerns (atop of all the recent ones).

Anyone who does wanna track their own online time--check out Yo Brewster's Second Life Profiles, he's made a SL Usage Stats widget. Just for fun. :)

I'm afraid there's not a mechanical way to track a very human thing as committment. How can one quantize loyalty? However: showing the Payment Info in profile is just, just ONE way of indicating committment. One out of many, like how the rainbow has many colors. I'm serious.

As you know, when I can, I enjoy reading Resident blogs, checking out the photos of the world they've taken, listening to stories they tell on the forums of what they've done (even tho I can't reply to all of them, there are so many!), and more. And of course, in the cases of those who create things inworld, that's always present. These are all very real, if difficult-to-measure means of commitment. But just like great art, it's subject to interpretation.

Hope this helps a little. :)
