I have a question about Gambling in Second Life, and international gambling laws.
I am a Canadian, and my country's laws regarding gambling and games of chance are very strict. Even simple contests require a 'skill testing question', usually a simple math problem, to be considered legal.
Second Life is full of casinos and gambling machines, and since Linden Dollars are interchangable with real dollars, this would seem to violate the law in my country.
Furthermore, I am a scripter, and I have occasionally considered developing slot machines, video poker, and other games of chance myself. I do not truly know if this is legal or not in my position, and if it is not, I wonder what actions Linden Labs would take?
I would also like to take the time to ask about the policy of Gambling on the Teen grid. I've known some good programmers who were young enough, and I've heard that adults can access both grids after a clean criminal background check. Is gambling allowed on the Teen grid? I worry about the kids using it being taken advantage of.
Thank you for your time.
