how about an error when Quicktime not detected?

I recently uninstalled Quicktime and haven't reinstalled it yet. When I visit a parcel which has a video stream, the movie control does not appear at the bottom of my SL screen. I take it that the control does not appear because the client knows I don't have QT installed. That makes sense.

The lack of a movie control doesn't prevent me from clicking on objects which stream video, however. Clicking on these objects produces no error mesage. Video simply doesn't play.

How about changing this behavior so we see an error if we click on video objects without QT installed?

The message could be "Missing QuickTime. Do you want to install it?" If we answer yes, the client could open a browser window to quicktime.com.

Agree. And what about showing errors for invalid streams? So many times someone wonders, "Why the heck isn't this playing?" and there's no feedback acknowledgement.

After I'm "done" with groups+estate land sales+UI+ban tools futureclient stuff this week, I hope to have a block of time to sit down and look more at our media controls.

Thanx paulie.

(I laugh every time I see your avatar--that Snakes on a Plane movie just cracks me up so much... SOOOO honest about what it is. I love the literalism!)
