Why were the forums kept open?

Why did you keep the forums open on Friday? I understand Pathfinder said: "We realize, because of the security and password resetting issues today, that some of you might not have had time to migrate to othe forums to stay in touch with each other." We had time. The password resetting issue have anything at all to do with the time we had to find an alternative forum. The two are not related in any way.

The deadline came and passed. It would have arrived without the password issue.

My point is, if it was so important to keep the forum open so we could have a free flow of information, then why close them at all? The official blog is obviously going to be a one-way stream of info with the added bonus of sanitized comments. Are we expected to sit there and hit the reload button until our questions are answered?

I say close the forums now. It was the plan all along. Get it done and quit stringing everyone along now that we've all "migrated."

Hi Quimby! The specific five forums will be closed today. Sorry for the delays. We just didn't want to make bad things worse, given the timing. Always tough because we receive many conflicting opinions--and I actually bet beforehand one like yours would show up, which I'm glad to see. :)

Re: the Official Linden Blog, we're going to put up guidelines soon. We don't sanitize comments, but we do encourage constructive suggestions. To manage expectations, not every question can be gotten to on there as there's quite a volume, but we'll look for hotspots and FAQs--I personally will be picking up on eclectic things to blog about in response to Residents.
