In the preferences, why does it say (recomended) behind 128 mb graphics when i'm running a 256 in my machine? Should I be selecting 128 anyways?

I'd need more details to give an educated response, Treacly, :) but it sounds like you have a computer with a low ratio of system memory (RAM) compared to graphics card memory (VRAM)--which is why it's showing the (recommended) setting as being lower than your graphics card's max.
