This is great news! Are we going to have any preauction indication of which of these will remain protected land and which will ultimately be auctioned?
Or do we have to shoot in the dark and hope for the best?

mainland coastline reconciliation
07-09-2006 21:52
Cyn Linden: As some of you have noticed, there is some reconciling happening on the flat edges of the original mainland continent. Areas where the land ends in a flat side rather than a natural shoreline are being drawn into the design of the larger continent, by means of additional regions in most cases. Very interesting. Does this mean that the original mainland continent has reached its maximum size and won't get any bigger? If so, that's kind of a milestone in SL history. Perhaps we should be naming the continent, then? How about a naming contest? ![]() If the edges of the mainland are finally being set, I imagine that those edges will become prime real estate. Interesting times. _____________________

Q about Mainland Shoreline Reconciliation?
07-10-2006 09:45
With the announced "Mainland Shoreline Reconciliation", which I think in general will be a good thing, what will happen to landowners that have waterfront property in the affected sims?
If 30 meters of Linden-owned "beach" suddenly appears between their current 'shoreline' of their waterfront property and the new shoreline, can they move their parcel back to the water's edge? Will they be given 'first buy rights' to purchase the land that robs them of their water access? I happen to have a home that is very close to the edge of the Magenta sim, which generally has a 'straight' coastline. Will that sim become landlocked? I have neighbors who I know purchased their land because it was right on the water's edge. I am certain they would be upset if a strip of land appeared between them and the 'sea'. _____________________
