Will this help with beta testing?

I'd love to give credit where credit is due for this idea, but I can't remember where I read it (I believe it was a third party forum). But someone had suggested that users testing the test grid be awarded some kind of in-world compensation, L$, what have you...as this could help alleviate 2 problems.

1)The lack of in world jobs for noobies

2)the lack of any real load on the test grid.

Sufficient "remuneration" in L$ would encourage more users to pile onto the test grid, stressing it in the ways it needs to be stressed in order to fully test its limits and avoid problems like we had yesterday.

I'm not an economist, and I don't know the impact this would have on the source/sink ratio in our "economy" here. But it's an idea that sounded good, and one that I thought was at least worth considering.

Thank you for your time.

This is a good question, Luciftias, and I also wonder -- because I haven't seen this idea come up more often. One of the prime related areas of benefit (in this area) is better education on "How to file a bug report". It's such a useful skill to have and I recommend even non-technical people be able to write down step-by-step instructions which are easy to follow.

Thus (hypothetically and in my opinion), if interested newcomers or other Residents wanted to earn L$ for helping beta test, we'd have to quantify how to measure this in terms of value: would L$ be awarded if you're the first to come up with a good repro for a bug, for example? Or simply for "being present" (concurrency also gets tested on a daily basis on the Main Grid).

It bears further discussion but it's evident there needs to be some sort of organized system. Related, we've had L$ bug bounties for discovering exploits: http://blog.secondlife.com/?s=bounty

Thank you for your time too! =)
